The truth about fat loss-- Absolutraining (Long Beach)
Most people believe that we get FAT by eating too much or consuming too many calories---This is today's "Conventional Wisdom-" ideas/ preconceptions that explains why we get fat without reference to science. It's a popular opinion.
Here I will be debunking the why we the get fat scenario.
Does over eating contribute to being fat? If it is does what does overeating mean? Is there a universal caloric chart that predetermines how much everyone should be eating? The answer is NO!
Conventional Wisdom tells us not to overeat, to limit your food servings so that you don't get FAT. But the truth is your body is driven by hormones and are affected by food quality which ultimately affects the regulation of your FAT tissue... PHEW... What I am saying is food quality (and long term consumption) triggers FAT gain.
FAT is earned! You don't get fat by eating too much. You eat too much because you are getting FAT. This is how it works. To gain FAT (fat is the correct term to use) you would have had to damage fat cell regulation. This happens when consuming the wrong types of foods (heavy starches, grains, sugars).
* Read Why you gain weight and Are you eating healthy for a quick refresher.
Impairing your fat cell metabolism accelerates the food you eat to be stored as FAT! Normally in a healthy environment your fat cells will release incremental doses of fat into the bloodstream for your body to use for energy, but under a heavy carb/grain/sugar environment your fat cell metabolism becomes deranged!
When you screw up the regulation of your FAT cell one or both things may happen.
1. You overeat
When FAT cell regulation is impaired fat cells become greedy and gobble up the majority of calories/nutrients in a meal leaving the rest of your bodily cells still hungry, thus making you eat more! You eat more because you damaged your FAT cell metabolism. This due to chronic elevated insulin levels. Again refer back to Are you eating healthy for more info.
2. You become sedentary
Yes we know moving is important but it isn't the main reason why we get FAT. Damaging your FAT cell metabolism may leave your body expending less energy and holding onto fat. High levels of insulin can make you feel sluggish and a lot less energetic which is attributed to poor FAT cell metabolism.
I hope I made my point clear that overeating isn't the cause of being FAT but more as the result. You overeat because you have a hormonal disturbance of FAT regulation due to chronically high levels of insulin (high carb and poor food choices). The result is overeating, becoming sedentary or both. Breaking away from conventional wisdom beliefs explains why counting calories and extreme dieting isn't a sustainable strategy to lose fat, lowering insulin through food quality is!
How many people do you know that have used the calorie counting strategy and have kept the weight off?
