Holiday Dieting
Here are some strategies to help keep your belly fat down through the holidays...
Eat breakfast. During the month of December the "things to do list" just keeps getting longer. You need to plan when to shop, where to go shopping, and fit in any last minute Christmas delays. Your mind gets exhausted, you start to lack sleep, become fatigued throughout the day, AND start to eat less.
Eating breakfast is like getting an oil change before going on a long road trip, it just runs better. Many times breakfast is abused. For some breakfast is a cup of coffee, a bagel and cream cheese. Look at where your daily energy is coming from :( It is important to start off your morning with a lot of energy coming from QUALITY calories--- Not low energy coming from cruddy calories.
The holiday rush is an "endless": a rush to complete shopping, stressed over last minute errands, adjusting to out of town traveling, and completing work agendas.
So much time is being spent that you forget to focus on your appetite or have little time to eat, leaving you hungry and eating on an empty stomach. 99.9% of the time eating on an empty stomach is a bad idea because you start making the worst choices of food to eat. Think about it. When was the last time you were starving... And finally when the opportunity comes to eat you said "I'm going to eat a grilled Salmon salad." EXACTLY!
Control your belly fat and minimize your love handles by eating breakfast and eating frequently. Start off your morning with a high protein yogurt topped with granola. This small snack would not only satisfy your tummy but boost your metabolism because of its high protein content.
2-3 hrs later munch on tuna and wheat Ritz crackers. This protein snack will help you keep your body burning fat and is simple and easy to snack on at work at your desk.
Lunch time, the protein continues. Keep your hips slim by eating grilled chicken breast and a cup of fiber (fruit, veggies, greens). Yes it can be done. Especially because of your new eating style. Your appetite is now suppressed leaving you strong and energetic and you are less likely to binge on poor food choices.
During your next snack enjoy a nice blend of protein and lite fruit smoothie.
By the time you get home in time to eat dinner. Your body is at its highest fat burning peak! Maintain that with a lite salad topped with thin slices of turkey breast, avocado and your choice of exotic dressing---not ranch dressing.
The holidays are filled with stress and "thing to do." But don't let that affect your diet and exercise routine. Following these simple steps can keep you sexy while celebrating the night of Christmas with friends and family.
