The Campfire
Sit back relax and enjoy your S'mores.
There is a lot of talk about distinguishing the best way to lose fat. Cardio, step aerobics, and Taekwondo burnouts are just a few classes all being utlilized in the world of fat-loss. Think about the most common trend found in the gym to lose fat. The obivious is what I like to call "Treadmill Training." If you don't know what it is just look at the cardio section of the gym and watch members glued to the machines sweting away for hours.
The point is to burn calories. To burn hundreds of calories and lose the unwanted fat around our waist, legs, thighs, and back. But unfortunately its a dead end.
Naturally your body loves to conserve energy, a perfect example of your body creating efficiency is reading a novel while on the elliptical.
Through CONSTANT "steady-state" cardio your body starts to familiarize itself with the same pattern of intensity and starts to become efficient at burning calories. Efficiency is not what you want to happen in your quest for fat-loss. If it does your body will trigger itself by untilizing less and less fat for fuel while doing the same amount of work. So if your goal is to lose fat you are wasting your time on the elliptical.
Take a look at this.
Imagine a campfire. Each individual log represents a fat cell and the flame resembles your level of intensity and how fast the fat (logs) is melting. Efficiency occurs whenever the campfire LASTS all morning, afternoon and night while sparing your wood with a low flame. You would rather have one that is strong, aggressvie and expensive on wood. So if your goal is to lose fat, what kind of fire do you want to have?
