Check Out Stand Diet: What foods to eat
How often do you find yourself reading a celebrity or success story in a magazine while standing in the check out line at the grocery store? You know the articles showing "Jane Doe" losing 40- 50 pound in a matter a weeks. How is that possible? When you skim through the article they give you a sample meal plan that Mrs. Doe has followed in reaching her success.
Ever wonder why it always works for them and never on yourself? What these success stories fail to mention is the amount of work and planning that has been involved. As a Personal Trainer I hear many people ask me "just tell me what to eat" OR "write out all my meals." LOL... I'm sorry it just doesn't work that way. Does Nicole Richie look like Oprah Winfrey? NO! Nothing ever works the EXACT same way between two different people. Our genetics and body chemistry are just so different.
The other day I was at the market with my fiance' and she skimmed through a story were a gal lost something like 40-45 pounds in a matter of weeks. Now before I continue I just want to note that my fiance' is in amazing shape, and yet she is fascinated with the success of this story. Like many women, my fiance' isn't ever satisfied with her physique... I don't blame her because No one really ever is. I myself would love to improve on many areas of my body. It's just how it works. Once we accomplish something, we set new goals. We always work to get better...
Anyways my fiance' wants to trim a few pounds--- I think she looks great, but she continuously makes a point that she needs to train harder. She is always telling me about a new diet she read about or a new workout that are suppose to make you lose 10 pounds in a few days. Women. You never know what to expect.
OK... my fiance' asks' me what I thought of the diet that the women used to lose "x" pounds. I briefly looked it over and said "yeah it's nice." But deep down inside I knew she wanted me to say that she should give it a try. I then explained to her that diets are ALWAYS specific to "the person." Not one diet recipe is going to work wonders on everybody.
I surprisingly noticed that my fiance' had never really understood that. I mean she told me that she thought certain diets are geared towards losing pounds of Fat. And she is partially right. You see what success stories fail to tell you is how much research goes into and discover what the bodily needs are, finding any nutrient deficiencies, and rearranging the protein/carb/fat ratios. Everything is specially tailored for these success stories and very likely involves registered dieticians and a lot of trail and error beforehand.
So the next time you are standing in the check out line and pick up a magazine don't be alarmed. The diet that you may be reading may not work for you. I bet it will look extremely healthy but that doesn't mean it has the right recipe for YOU.
